We are pleased to announce that our practice is among the first in our area to offer the Ultherapy procedure, an entirely new and unique type of nonsurgical treatment that uses ultrasound to lift and tone loose skin without any downtime.
Unlike other nonsurgical procedures, Ultherapy is able to treat not only the skin itself, but the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery. This initiates your body’s collagen rebuilding process without disturbing the surface of your skin.
After just one treatment with no downtime, your skin will gradually shift back into a more youthful position. While Ultherapy does not duplicate the results of surgery, it is an inviting alternative for those who are not ready for surgery but looking for meaningful results.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a nonsurgical procedure that uses medical ultrasound for cosmetic improvement of the skin. Ultherapy works deep below the surface-without cutting or disrupting the outer layer of skin-for firming, tightening and lifting. Improvements include a more defined jawline and tighter skin on the neck and under the chin. sagging skin on the cheeks can be tightened and lifted, which in turn can improve skin folds and drooping corners of the mouth. Tightening of skin on the forehead and brow can reduce the sagging skin on the eyelids and promote a more open, refreshed appearance. Overall improvements in skin texture and evenness of color can be additional benefits. Ultherapy has been used for over two years in the United States and over 50,000 patient treatments.
How does it work?
As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator placed upon your skin projects an image onto a screen. This same applicator is then used to deliver low levels of focused ultrasound energy at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed. Your skins response to the energy is to stimulate the growth of new collagen. You will observe some immediate tightening and lifting. The full effect will build gradually over the course of two to three months and sometimes beyond.
How is this procedure different from other non-surgical skin tightening procedures?
Ultherapy is the only skin rejuvenation procedure that uses ultrasound to image and treat the skin. The ability to utilize an established technology-to both see below the skin and then treat it with great precision-helps ensure both safety and satisfying results. The beauty of Ultherapy is that there is no “healing” or “downtime”.
How many treatments will I need?
Ultherapy is a 30 to 60 minute procedure and requires no special preparation. Ultherapy typically only takes one treatment session.
What does it feel like?
Comfort levels vary from person to person, but you do not need anesthesia during the procedure. Many patients describe the sensation as momentary prickling or heat beneath the skin. This is the ultrasound energy being delivered into the tissue, which is how Ultherapy lifts and tightens the skin. Your practitioner may prescribe a medication to take prior to your tretment. This will be discussed at your consultation.
What area of the face and neck are treated?
The Ulthera System is designed to treat the entire face and upper neck, or specific regions of interest. Areas we treat include forehead, brows, around the eyes (crows feet), temples, face and neck. Your practitioner can tailor a treatment plan for you at the time of your consultation.
